Project Ceres - Perdaman Urea Plant

Client: Saipem-Clough Joint Venture (SCJV)

Overview

MCS delivered a comprehensive concrete supply and quality assurance solution for Project Ceres, Perdaman Chemicals & Fertilisers' flagship urea manufacturing development in Karratha, Western Australia. As one of Australia's largest industrial developments, the project required reliable concrete production, specialised mix designs and rigorous quality control to support large-scale construction activities in the harsh Pilbara environment.

Scope of Work

  • Concrete mix design

  • Design and construction of onsite batch plant

  • Concrete batching and delivery

  • Quality assurance and testing

  • Aggregate and cement compliance testing

  • Raw material supply and logistics support

Our Solution

MCS designed 19 specialised concrete mixes tailored to the project's durability requirements and the demanding Pilbara climate. Extensive testing and trial programs were undertaken to ensure compliance with project specifications and relevant Australian Standards.

A purpose-built onsite batch plant was designed and constructed to meet the project's environmental, safety and production requirements, consistently supplying up to 80m³ of concrete per hour across multiple work fronts.Supporting the operation was a fleet of eight modern agitator trucks and a dedicated quality assurance program delivered through MCS's NATA-certified testing division. Comprehensive testing was undertaken throughout the project, covering concrete performance, durability and compliance.

MCS Quarry, Drill and Blast and Transport Operations also supported the project through the supply and delivery of raw materials, demonstrating the strength of MCS's vertically integrated operating model.

Outcome

MCS successfully delivered a complete concrete supply and testing solution for one of Western Australia's most significant industrial developments. Key outcomes included:

  • 19 specialised concrete mixes developed

  • Onsite batch plant delivering up to 80m³ per hour

  • Concrete pours of up to 700m³ completed

  • NATA-certified testing and quality assurance

  • Vertically integrated supply chain support

  • Strong environmental and water management outcomes

The project demonstrated MCS's ability to deliver complex concrete, logistics and quality assurance solutions at scale while maintaining safety, consistency and compliance throughout delivery.
